On March 15th, 2010, in a Blue Hall, Fund on Health Insurance, Milomir Ninković, PhD specialist, Head of the Clinic for plastic and reconstructive surgery in burns Bogenschausen University Hospital in Munich, will lecture on “Modern developments in reconstructive microsurgery“, with the beginning at 6 pm.

On March 16, 2010, will be performed the first breast reconstruction surgery at the Clinic for Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and Burns, Clinical Center Banja Luka Diep flap where the patient was removed due to malignant breast disease before more than a year, and has gone through chemotherapy and radiation treatment. This method uses the tissue of the lower part of the abdomen for creation and benefits of lost breast by using a known circulatory shaft bottom epigastric artery and its dominant performative blood vessel. This method does not sacrifice the flat abdominal muscles, and the possibility of getting the abdominal wall weaker is not big. The aforementioned blood vessels are re-connected on the artery and vein mammariae internal, by microsurgical technique, thus the transplantated tissue gets circulation that is necessary for “survival” on the new place.
This will be the first such surgery done in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On March, 17th, 2010, will be also for the first time, in the Clinical Center of Banjaluka, done a finger transplatation. Two toes will be put on the place of the lost thumb of injured hand with the woodworking machinery, socalled „second toe to hand“, making the injured hand, which has lost its function almost completely, more functionable.
This is an operation of very complex transfer of several types of tissues (bone, cyclic, nervous) and blood vessels of 1 mm in diameter are switching by using microsurgical techniques and operational microscope similar to hand.

On March, 18, 2010, Professor Ninkovic, together with doctors and staff of the Clinic for Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and Burns, will show out early postoperative course of operated patients and review patients who would be nominated for operative treatment in his next arrival. Thus began the training of our personnel for training and dealing with this specific technique, which is used in many branches of medicine.

The press conference will be held on March, 18, 2010. at 11:00 am in the hall for meetings of the Office of the Director General on Paprikovac (Central Medical building blocks). The conference will be attended by the management of the Clinical Center of Banja Luka, and representatives of the Ministry of Health and Social Care.
