A term Hypospadias derives from the Greek “hypo”, which means below and ”spadon ” which means cracks. Hypospadias is a congenital defect of penis, emerged by incomplete development of front urethra. Abnormal hole of urethra may be at any place along a penis, on scrotum and on perineum. If the position of meatus is more proximal, it is greater the probability for the occurrence of ventral shortening and curvature during erection. Hypospadias results in various degrees of lack of urethra, corpora spongiosa and corpora cavernosa

Skin on ventral side may be thin and foreskin is ventral deficiental and forms dorsal hood over glossy. As a rule, dystopia of meatus does not cause significant obstructive urinary symptoms, although it may occur ventral diversion of stream. When meatus is more proximal, stream is directed straight down or straight back by demanding that a boy wet “in the female way.” Penile curvature is allegedly the cause of painful erections and if not corrected, can cause severe psychological consequences.

It is believed that Hypospadias incidence is 3.2 per 1,000 newborn boys, or about 1 in every 300 boys. The report from the United States, where special attention is paid to smaller degrees of Hypospadias, was published incidence of 1 in 125 newborn boys. These numbers mean that approximately of 1,848,500 boys born in the United States in 1986, there were about 6200 cases of Hypospadias. Avellan reported that in Sweden, approximately 1 in 300 newborn children has hypospadias . The Dutch study is about 3.8 to 1000 hypospadias. A study from Bristol also talks about the prevalence of 3 to 1000. Diagnosis of even the most mild forms of hypospadias is apparent in view of newborn boys. Incompletely formed foreskin from excessive dorsal hood leads directly to urethra defect. In recent years, there is the possibility that hypospadias is diagnosed with ultrasound. The classic finding is a wide distal part of penis in combination with excessive dorsal foreskin.

Studies conducted recently show that the ideal time for the correction of hypospadias is between the third and 18 months of child’s life life (in the first four years of life increases penis less than 1 cm). We fit in the recommended term (child to age one year). Because a child is older, it is even greater stress for a child and a child can keep the memory of the operation.
So far has been presented over 200 original methods of reconstruction of urethra and it still continues with modifications of modifications. For a successful correction of hypospadias, except for rich experience, it seems to be more important to be aware of all known options.

Our origins date back from 1995, with the arrival of Professor Perović and initial operations. The war has ended the cooperation that continues after the war, with his training at the UDC Tiršova Belgrade. With hard work, we reached the number 200 and we can say, with no false modesty, that we do those surgeries very successfully. It was published a few papers in that area at congresses and section meetings of children’s surgeons. Please note that we work on all types of hypospadias.
