Centre for radiotherapy is an extremely complex building facility, equipped with precision technology and highly sophisticated equipment, and was built in record time of one year, which has surpassed all expectations and doubts about the successful launch of the center.
Top-class facilities of the Centre for radiotherapy puts it in the most modern center in the region of South East Europe and the first project of the Center for radiotherapy according to the model public-private partnerships throughout Europe.

Centre for radiotherapy was built in the southern part of the newly built wing of the Central Clinical Center medical block Banja Luka and is located in the basement of an area of 2,500 square meters. Construction and installation works have been performed to the highest European standards and the Center contains all the required elements for this type of institution, which includes two stonewalls for teletherapy, as well as a reserve for future needs, and a bunker for brachytherapy. For the purposes of planning air therapy are set two treatment simulators which enables patients to be quickly engaged in treatment.

All the equipment is purchased from world-renowned manufacturer of this type of equipment: Varian Medical Systems and General Electric of the United States, and investment in the facility and equipment has amounted 30 million BAM, up to now.

In addition to the modern space and equipment that are a necessary condition for such institutions is essential a high quality, highly educated and professional staff. Given the complexity and multidisciplinary approach to treatment in patients with malignant disease, IMC Banja Luka has brought together a team of recognized experts in the region as well as a team of young people from Republic of Srpska, and they will, through work and additional training, acquire the necessary knowledge and skills. The entire staff consists of 22 members, 4 doctors, five physicists, 12 technicians and one engineer. Initial training for operation and management of equipment in Switzerland, Germany and Hungary are completed, as well as on-site training of doctors, medical physicists, and radiological and medical technicians. In the coming period will be held all the remaining agreed training and new training schedule will be in line with progress of technology which will be followed and adopted by the IMC Banja Luka .

Centre for radiotherapy represents, functionally, single entity with Clinical Centre of Banja Luka, which will enable our institutions, in addition to high quality diagnosis, to spend all the necessary modalities of therapy and radiation therapy. By working together in oncological-hematological councils, teams of doctors from Clinical Center and the doctors from Center for radiotherapy will make the best and timely decisions on the selection of therapy. Given that the Health Fund of the Republic of Srpska arranged with the Center the provision of radiotherapy services in the field of radiotherapy for all health insurance fund for which it is necessary, the Center not only represents an integral whole with the Clinical Center, but also with the entire health system.

Radiation therapy costs are covered by health insurance fund, and the principle of equal treatment of patients is as in all other health institutions

The fact that patients from all over the Republic of Srpska and from Bosnia and Herzegovina will have the opportunity to be treated in this institution, and it will be removed past the long waiting lists, to which our patients encountered in other areas of the region for full capacity is of great importance . It is also important to emphasize that the Center for radiation therapy is available for patients from countries in the region. With the construction of the new Centre for radiotherapy, Republic of Srpska got one of the most modern radioterapy centers in the region that provides adequate conditions for the treatment of oncological-haematological patients with radiation therapy.
