200x112-..-images-images_news-japan110th annual meeting of Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology was held in the period from 26 to 28 June 2014 in Yokohama. Around 5.000 participants attended excellently organized annual gathering, as the event of the highest importance for Japanese Psychiatrists and Neurologists. This year’s motto of the meeting was “Psychiatry which changes the world – from psychiatry in the community to global psychiatry”. Especial interest was caused by the lectures about suicide since Japan is the country with very high rate of suicides. Associated symposium between Taiwan, Korea and Japan was also held, about suicide prevention.

This event was attended by prominent experts in this field: Professor Murray Patton (President of the Association of Psychiatrists of Australia and New Zealand), Professor Darrel A.Regier (Director of the Department for Scientific Research of American Association of Psychiatrists) and Professor Dinesh Bhugra (future President of World Association of Psychiatrists). Huge interest was raised by the sessions about new American Diagnostic and Statistical Handbook of Mental Diseases (DSM-V), which was one of first translated handbooks, and whose implementation started in Japan. JSPN awards every year young psychiatrists all over the world (JSPN) Fellowship Award). In frames of this year’s meeting, the awards were given to young psychiatrists from several countries: Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Myanmmar, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Israel, Thailand, Moldavia and Japan. Each awarded participant presented himself at international symposium with the topics of communal psychiatry and abalientation treatment. Doctor Visnja Banjac from University Hospital of Banja Luka Clinic Centre has received the Fellowship Award, while Doctor Nera Zivlak-Radulovic gave oral presentation on the topic: „Risperidone long-acting in Republic of Srpska“.
Besides this official part, the organizers ensured pleasant stay in Japan for the participants, as well as attractive social program after whole-day activities.
