Expert meetings of the doctors from all the hospitals in RS were held in University Hospital of Banja Luka Clinic Centre, with maximal support of RS Ministry of Health and Social Protection, in the period from 25 to 28 August 2014. The goal of the meetings of the directors working on similar fields was to improve cooperation and coordination, and to provide even better health protection for the patients. The topics have been divided by certain similar fields, and the doctors of University Hospital of Banja Luka Clinic Centre addressed the attendees.
They hold lectures from expert areas of surgery and conservative fields of medicine, and discussed the procedures which are being implemented in University Hospital of Banja Luka Clinic Centre, but not in the other hospitals in RS. They also talked about improvement of existing procedures and the opportunity to establish single protocols for medical treatment in all the institutions in RS. Topic of consideration was also more complete diagnosis treatment of the patients before forwarding to the other hospitals, professional and educated cadres in the hospital, and lack of experts and equipment in certain areas of medicine.Joint stance was that there is the need for better communication with the doctors in the procedures of medical equipment procurement, and adoption of more diagnosis and therapy procedures in health institutions in RS, with the goal to prevent the option that the patients use treatment in the other hospitals in the region. It has been agreed to activate the associations of doctors from specific fields, who would work with the topics of adequate procurement of medicaments and equipment, education plan, planning of expert cadres, introduction of National Register and Clinical Guide in order to standardize doctors’ practice in all healthcare institutions in RS. Special attention was paid on the topics of cancer treatment and patients in life danger, and improvement of reactions in those cases. It was proposed to introduce video-link for the consultation teams, and to have full capacity of this team which is in charge of selection and medical treatment of the patients.
It was stated there is the need for organization of the meetings of the team from the Centre for Radio Therapy and Head of the Clinic for Cancer Treatment Zdenka Gojkovic in the other hospitals, and to work on improvement in work of consultation teams, but also to improve treatment in this field. Establishment of rehabilitation teams in RS would solve the problem of the patients who are waiting for continuation of medical rehabilitation. Attendees of the meeting also talked about definition of necessary procedures related to transport of patients using the helicopters since it is necessary to provide adequate medical equipment and educated medical personnel, for transportation procedures. There is the plan to organize in upcoming period special meetings of the doctors of surgery, which will be dedicated to reception of patients from the other hospitals, and to improve existing cooperation between healthcare institutions. University Hospital of Banja Luka Clinic Centre should deliver to the other institutions the information on reception procedures. Participants in expert meetings are satisfied since this way of communication has been shown as efficient to solve the problems which happen in work of the hospitals. The meetings were also attended by the Team from the RS Health Insurance Fund, and transcripts of the meetings were delivered to the hospitals and relevant institutions which are in charge of solving the proposals related to better work of healthcare institutions in RS.
Standard procedure for work of the ethical committee of the clinical center (kc)
