The sixteenth kidney transplant was performed in the University Hospital Clinical Centre Banjaluka

Under the supervision of the Team of the Military Medical Academy Belgrade, the Transplant team of the University Hospital Clinical Centre Banjaluka performed the 16^th kidney transplant. During this year, four transplants were performed in the University Hospital Clinical Centre Banjaluka.

More than four years ago, the first kidney transplant was performed in the University Hospital Clinical Centre Banjaluka with the assistance of the Team from the Military Medical Academy Belgrade that was also involved in the education of our personnel. It is important to emphasize that up to now all the transplants were performed without any complications. For the first time, our Transplant team independently performed the transplant under the supervision of the MMA Team.

The sixteenth transplant was performed on Friday, November 7^th, 2014. A transplant patient was Ž. D. (born in 1973) and a donor was a father Ž.G. (born in 1952). A complete preoperative preparation was carried out by our physicians at the Department of Nephrology of the Internal Medicine Clinic. During the preparation of transplantation, video conferencing was used in communication with the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade.

The Transplant team of the Military Medical Academy Belgrade was comprised of: Professor Novak Milovic, MD, PhD, Head of the MMA Transplant team, Docent Aleksandar Tomic, MD, PhD, Head of the MMA Vascular Surgery Clinic, Primarius Neven Vavic MD, Head of the MMA Transplant Centre and Vesna Kapetanic, a theatre nurse.

The transplant team of the University Hospital Clinical Centre Banjaluka was comprised of: Docent Milorad Grujicic, MD, PhD, Head of the UH CC BL Transplant team, Docent Milan Zigic, MD, PhD, Head of the section of Surgical transplant team and Head of the Urology Clinic, Novak Vasic, MD, MSc, a vascular surgeon and Head of the Vascular Surgery Clinic, Docent Branislav Gasic, MD, PhD, a specialist in nephrology and Head of the Internal Medicine Clinic, Docent Darko Golic, MD, PhD, a specialist in anaesthesiology and Head of the Clinic of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care.

Besides heads of the Transplant team, colleagues experienced in the related fields of medicine in the UH CC BL also participated in the transplantation. They are: Zoran Roljic, MD, a vascular surgeon, Snjezana Milicevic, a specialist in urology, Dusko Todic, MD, specialist in urology, Predrag Beric, MD, a specialist in anaesthesiology, Milan Pavlovic, MD, a specialist in anaesthesiology, Dejan Nikic, MD, a specialist in anaesthesiology, Rada Spanic, Tanja Zvjerac, Dijana Vranjes, Isidora Smoljic, Biljana Bojic, theatre nurses, Dragisic Bosko, an anaesthetic technician and nurses from the Department of Nephrology of the Internal Medicine Clinic.
