IMG_1971In the period from February 5th to February 7th , 2015,  the School of Ultrasound in Gynaecology and Obstetrics ”Primarius Petar Ristic” organized by the Association of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians of the Republic of Srpska was held. It gathered dozens of gynaecologists and experts in this field from the Republic of Srpska, B&H and Serbia. Professor Vesna Ecim-Zlojutro, MD, PhD, President of the Association of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians of the Republic of Srpska that organized this event, said that this kind of school was held for the first time in B&H. Vesna Ecim Zlojutro clarified: “I am very glad that I can use this opportunity to address public and colleagues and very pleased that we organized this event in Banja Luka. School was named after Primarius Petar Ristic MD who was the first physician that started IMG_1966to use ultrasound both in Banja Luka and in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Actually, he was the first physician that used this method in the former Yugoslavia after he had finished educational courses in Zagreb under the mentorship of Professor Asim Kurjak MD, PhD.” Registrations for participation in the school were sent from the entire Republic of Srpska and B&H and the organizers are very pleased with the interest shown by attendees. Vesna Ecim-Zlojutro emphasized: “Aims of this school are acquiring the basic knowledge and improving the existing knowledge with regard to the use of this diagnostic method in the most efficient way possible.” Nebojsa Radunovic, academician from Belgrade stated that he has been practicing gynaecology for thirty years and that he was one of the pioneers of ultrasound in Serbia. Radunovic said: “These meetings and gatherings are necessary so that people who have an access to the newest information can inform those who do not have the access, because knowledge in this field is often updated and broadened”.

IMG_1985Devleta Balic, Professor at the Faculty of Medicine in Tuzla, said that she was very pleased with the participants who were very active and often raised questions. Adem Balic, a gynaecologist from Tuzla, stated that the idea of ultrasound education was excellent and that these lectures should be held on a regular basis, since he heard a lot of new information during the event, regardless of his huge experience in gynaecology.
