On February 24th, 2015, at 2:00 p.m., a lecture entitled “Stress echocardiography in clinical practice” was held in the Clinic of Cardiovascular Diseases of the University Hospital Clinical Centre Banjaluka“. The lecture was attended by specialists in internal medicine – cardiologists and residents in cardiology and internal medicine from the University Hospital Clinical Centre Banjaluka. The lecturer was an esteemed academician Miodrag Ostojic who spoke about stress echocardiography in clinical practice.Stress echocardiography(stress echo) is a non-invasive diagnostic method for detection of coronary disease. The most famous manifestation of this disease is angina pectoris i.e.squeezing sensation on the chest.
Stress echocardiography is performed in patients with the suspicion of coronary disease, or precisely – significant atherosclerotic stenosis of the arterial blood vessels. This topic has been chosen because today it is almost routine procedure to insert stents in heart blood vessels. Therefore, it is of great importance to choose method impartially. By holding these types of lectures, we continue to implement continuing education and trainings not only for the employees of the University Hospital Clinical Centre Banjaluka, but also for the physicians of all health care institutions in the Republic of Srpska.
