In the period from May 21st to May 23rd, 2015, 23rd May Pulmonary Days were held in Teslic, in hotel “Kardial”. The event was organized by the Association of Pulmonologists of the Republic of Srpska and the Pulmonology Clinic of the University Hospital Clinical Centre Banja Luka.
During this international expert conference, original researches, expert papers and lectures from the field of pulmonology were presented. May Pulmonary Days gathered approximately two thousand physicians that presented 50 expert papers. The gathering was also attended by other medical specialists dealing with respiratory issues in their everyday activities.
By organizing this year’s May Pulmonary Days, the Association of Pulmonologists of the Republic of Srpska and the Pulmonology Clinic aim to promote pulmonology as a multidisciplinary science. In the Republic of Srpska as well as in the region, there is an increase in number of people suffering from lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma. On an annual basis, several hundred new cases of lung tumour are registered in the Pulmonology Clinic.
Professor Mirko Stanetic, MD, PhD, president of the Association of Pulmonologists of the Republic of Srpska, emphasized that pulmonology in the Republic of Srpska followed global trends in treatment of pulmonary diseases and that this two-day event was aimed at promotion of pulmonology as a multidisciplinary science. He also pointed out the significance of the Radiotherapy Centre in treating the patients suffering from lung cancer.
Papers will be published in the Journal of the Association of Pulmonologists of the Republic of Srpska. They will be also available in the electronic form on the web sitewww.respiratio.info.
