Expert visit to the Department of Intensive Care Medicine

On June 18^th and June 19^th, 2015, Ivana Sundov, a respiratory therapist, visited the Department of Intensive Care Medicine. Mrs Sundov finished respiratory therapist studies in the USA and spent a year and a half working in New York.

Cooperation with medical personnel from the Department of Intensive Care Medicine lasts for more than two years. She was also one of the lecturers at the “May Pulmonary Days 2014”. The aim of her visit was sharing the experience in the field of intensive care with colleagues, especially with nurses and medical technicians. Also, they discussed methods for prevention of infections that very often occurred in ICUs. During her visit, Ivana Sundov held a lecture entitled “A Role of Respiratory Aspiration Technique in Prevention of Ventilator-associated Pneumonia” which was attended by physicians and medical personnel of the organizational units of the University Hospital Clinical Centre Banja Luka. She also emphasized the exceptionally high level of diagnostic and therapeutic protocols and care for patients in the Department of intensive Care Medicine.
