The nineteenth kidney transplant was performed in the University Clinical Centre of the Republic of Srpska

On Friday, September 18^th, 2015, the nineteenth kidney transplant was successfully performed in the University Clinical Centre of the Republic of Srpska. The first transplant was performed more than four years ago in the UCC RS with the assistance of the Team from the Military Medical Academy Belgrade that was also involved in the education of our personnel.Up to now, all the transplants were performed without any complications.

A transplant patient was S.B. (born in 1985) and a donor was a father S.M. (born in 1960). A complete preoperative preparation of patients was carried out by our physicians at the Department of Nephrology of the Internal Medicine Clinic. During the preparation of transplantation, video conferencing was used in communication with the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade. It included joint discussion on medical documentation and making the decision on conducting the procedure.

Transplant team of the University Clinical Centre of the Republic of Srpska was comprised of: Assistant General Manager for Medical Affairs, Slobodan Hajder, MD, Assistant Professor Milorad Grujicic, MD, PhD, Head of the UCC RS Transplant Team, Assistant Professor Milan Zigic, MD, PhD, Head of the section of Surgical Transplant Team and Head of the Urology Clinic, Dusan Todic, MD, a specialist in urology, Novak Vasic, MD, MSc, a vascular surgeon and Head of the Vascular Surgery Clinic, Assistant Professor Branislav Gasic, MD, PhD, a specialist in nephrology and Head of the Internal Medicine Clinic, Dragan Milosevic, MD, a specialist in anaesthesiology and Predrag Beric, MD, a specialist in anaesthesiology. Besides heads of the Transplant Team, anaesthetic technicians: Ljubinka Dvorancic and Jelena Pusac also participated in the transplantation, as well as theatre nurses: Danijela Tanasic, Dragica Kovacevic, Dijana Vranjes, Maja Karalic ,Rada Spanjic and nurses: Sanja Marjanovic, Dragana Joldzic, Radmila Radaković and Milica Coric.

The Transplant Team of the Military Medical Academy Belgrade was comprised of: Professor Novak Milovic, MD, PhD, Head of the MMA Transplant team, Assistant Professor Aleksandar Tomic, MD, PhD, Head of the MMA Vascular Surgery Clinic, Professor Neven Vavic MD, PhD, Head of the MMA Transplant Centre and Vesna Kapetanic, a theatre nurse.
