Staff members of the Department of Intensive Care Medicine were impressed with this noble idea, human gesture and support. Jadranka Vidovic, MD emphasized that this gesture caused general satisfaction of the staff members and patients. They are endlessly grateful to this family because people that think this way are rare. Beds valued at EUR 4422, 60 were delivered on August 31st, 2015 and have been used.

Cvijeta Petrovic was admitted to the Department of Intensive Care Medicine of the UCC RS in a very critical condition with Guillain-Barré syndrome, leg paralysis, partial paralysis of upper extremities and difficulty breathing which required serious approach and treatment as well as respiratory support. During hospitalization from July 21st to August 27th, 2015, family members spoke to the Head of the Department of Intensive Care Medicine Professor Pedja Kovacevic, MD, PhD. After he informed them about the seriousness of the approach to the patient in this organizational unit, they expressed their wish to donate certain financial assets for the necessary equipment.

Even though physicians at the Department of Intensive Care Medicine warned the family members about the uncertainty in predicting recovery of their mother, they insisted to donate equipment, since it would certainly facilitate treatment of patients in this Department regardless of the outcome of their mother’s treatment.

Family members are exceptionally pleased with the attitude of staff members towards their mother and the treatment that she received in our institution. Cvijeta has recovered and she is currently undergoing rehabilitation in the Public Health Care Institution Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation „Dr Miroslav Zotovic“. Also, family emphasized that it was hard to find the way to express gratitude to the staff members of the Department of Intensive Care Medicine and that the donation was just a small token of attention.
