On the occasion of marking World Psoriasis Day, the Clinic of Skin and Venereal Diseases of the University Clinical Centre of the Republic of Srpska organized Open Doors Day for the patients suffering from psoriasis.

The aims of marking World Psoriasis Day are: drawing the attention of public to the severity of this disease that affects more than 125 000 000 people worldwide and approximately 2% of population in our territory, improving the approach to treatment of patients, obtaining information and education of public to speak more openly about this disease.

Psoriasis is a long-term, exhausting disease that requires constant treatment and monitoring of physicians. People suffering from this disease are often exposed to social isolation and discrimination due to appearance of their skin.

In relation to marking World Psoriasis Day, activities of the medical staff members from the Clinic of Skin and Venereal Diseases of the UCC RS are focused on raising the awareness amongst our citizens about the disease and eliminating the myth that psoriasis is infectious disease. Besides an adequate medical approach, these activities would significantly contribute to the treatment of people suffering from psoriasis.
