RS minister of Health and Social Protection visited Surgery of the University Hospital of Banja Luka Clinic Centre

184x124-..-images-images_news-Ministar1RS Minister of Health and Social Protection Dragan Bogdanic paid a visit to University Hospital of Banja Luka Clinic Centre on 2 September 2014. During his visit to the Hospital, Minister Bogdanic, Acting General Director of the Hospital Mirko Stanetic and Assistant General Director for Medical Affairs Nikola Bojic visited Urgent Clinic of the Hospital, Clinic for General and Abdominal Surgery, Clinic for Anaestesia and Intensive Care, Clinic for Traumatology and Clinic for Orthopaedics. During the visit to the Hospital, Minister Bogdanic got information about work of mentioned clinics, and talked with patients about their health condition and treatment in the Hospital. Doctors presented the cases of the patients and further plans for treatment, and Head of the Clinic for Abdominal Surgery Milan Simatovic put accent on one-day surgery which is in use for over 2 decades in all developed countries, which provides savings, but also benefits for the patients, their rest, and better efficiency of the hospitals.

The Department for Intensive Care Medicine has been established

The Department for Intensive Care Medicine has been established at University Hospital of Banja Luka Clinic Centre on 1 September. This Department will provide treatment for the patients who are in life danger, and who are treated by conservative field of medicine. It will be support to all clinics and departments at University Hospital of Banja Luka Clinic Centre, at the same time supporting all healthcare institutions in RS which face the need to transfer their patients to Banja Luka Clinic Centre.

PhD thesis defence

184x124-..-images-images_news-OdbranaDisertacijeDoctor Aleksandra Dominovic from the Clinic for Neurology successfully defended her PhD thesis on the topic “Ice Bucket Challenge-ALS”, at Medical Faculty in Banja Luka. According to Doctor Dominovic, University Hospital of Banja Luka Clinic Centre was always providing treatment for the patients diseased from ALS.

Cleansing of a sewage system in University Hospital of Banja Luka Clinic Centre

184x124-..-images-images_news-kanal1IUpon initiative of the employees of the Department for Technical Services of the University Hospital of Banja Luka Clinic Centre, general inspection and cleansing of sewage systems and water management systems in the object and its surrounding area has been initiated in Banja Luka. Special vehicles for sewage and water management system cleansing has been engaged in order to perform this job. At the same time, the teams engaged on this project are working on cleaning and disinfection of basement area of 1200 square meters. 20 employees of the Department for Technical Services and its various bodies are engaged on realization of the activities.

Expert meetings at University Hospital of Banja Luka Clinic Centre

University Hospital of Banja Luka Clinic Centre will organize in upcoming period several expert meetings of specific fields of medicine, which will be attended by the doctors of University Hospital of Banja Luka Clinic Centre and doctors from the other hospitals in RS. Improvement of expert cooperation, better coordination and improvement of health protection services for the patients will be basic topics of those meetings which will be organized in period from 25 to 28 August. The focus-topics will be divided by specific fields, and moderators will be experts employed at University Hospital of Banja Luka Clinic Centre. Primary significance of the meeting will be dedicated to the topics related to solving urgent problems, such as acute myocardial infarct, traumas and malicious diseases.

Help for the workers threatened by floods

Employees of the Department for Technical Services in University Hospital of Banja Luka Clinic Centre provided maximal support in recovery of material damages on housing objects of our employees. Engagement provided help in partial recovery of 12 housing objects of the employees of the University Hospital of Banja Luka Clinic Centre, which suffered material damage in May’s floods.

University Hospital of Banja Luka Clinic Centre continues the activities in the fields of ecology and medical waste management

184x124-..-images-images_news-otpad1By procurement and installation of the object for medical waste disposal, University Hospital of Banja Luka Clinic Centre solved three very important problems: disposal and storage of antitumor drugs, chemical and pharmaceutical waste in adequate way which is aligned with the law and to storage the samples for pathohistological analysis, from the Institute for Pathology. In each clinic which gets in touch with antitumor waste, there are adequate bags to deliver the waste materials. When they are filled to the level of 2/3, the bags are being transported to the places for non-harmful removal.

Institute for Pathology is ready for BRAF testing

184x124-..-images-images_news-braf1Institute for Pathology of University Hospital of Banja Luka Clinic Centre successfully completed in July the education for analysis of BRAF mutations through RTPCD method, on the device Cobas 4800. This testing is focused on the patients diseased with metastasis of melanoma. Cobas ®4800 BRAF V600 mutation test is real-time PCR analysis, created for detection on presence of V600E mutations. Identification of mutations BRAF V600 is crucial for successful selection of therapy and for positive healthcare treatment in case of metastatic melanoma which is aggressive disease with bad prognosis.

The meeting with the directors of all hospitals in RS was held in University Hospital

sastanakDirektoraRS Ministry of Health and Social Protection organized today in University Hospital of Banja Luka Clinic Centre the meeting with the directors of all hospitals of RS, where the topic of the discussion were currently initiated activities on prevention and care of the patients with acute myocardium infarct, and expert cooperation between specific departments of the hospitals. In order to provide better coordination and care about patients, attendees of the meeting agreed on closer cooperation between specific departments of the University Hospital of Banja Luka Clinic Centre and other hospitals in RS, and organization of regular expert meetings.
