World Hepatitis Day
On July 28th, 2014, from 08:00 a.m. to 08:00 p.m., the Counselling Centre for hepatitides and HIV infection within the Clinic of Infectious Diseases of the Clinical Centre Banjaluka will mark the World Hepatitis Day and provide interested citizens with services of anonymous, voluntary, costless and advisory testing.
The World Health Organization (WHO) established July 28th as the World Hepatitis Day with the aim of raising the awareness of general and professional public on spreading the disease, preventive measures and possibilities of successful treatment.
A distinguished Professor Cesar Khazen, MD, PhD visited the Clinic of Cardiovascular Diseases
A distinguished Professor Cesar Khazen, MD, PhD, a cardiac surgeon from the Vienna General Hospital (AKH), with the support of Biotronik company visited the Clinical Centre Banja Luka. On that occasion, he performed two complex surgeries together with the physicians of the Clinic of Cardiovascular Diseases – Department of Cardiac Arrhythmias, Electrophysiology and Cardiac Electrostimulation.
Percutaneous vertebroplasty was performed for the first time in the Clinical Centre Banja Luka
A surgical procedure – percutaneous vertebroplasty was performed for the first time in the Clinic of Traumatology of the Clinical Centre Banja Luka. Physicians of the Clinical Centre Banja Luka continuously acquire professional competence for introducing the new methods for treatment of patients. After education in this field which was organized by the Clinical Centre Banja Luka and performed by physicians of the Clinic of Traumatology in Salzburg, Austria, another surgical procedure was successfully performed.
Ophthalmology of the Clinical Centre Banjaluka- leader in B&H
Physicians of the Ophthalmology Clinic of the Clinical Centre Banja Luka examine approximately 50 000 patients and perform more than 4000 surgical procedures annually. Patients with the most complicated ophthalmic problems from all over the Republic of Srpska are treated in the Ophthalmology Clinic of the Clinical Centre Banja Luka.
New surgical procedures in the Clinic of Gynaecology and Obstetrics
The Clinic of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of the Clinical Centre Banja Luka introduced several new and modern procedures and accordingly, with its continuous activities, improved treatments of patients in the Clinical Centre Banja Luka.
LAVH- laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy is the first and the most significant procedure which is performed in the Clinic of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, as a routine surgical method. It is an endoscopic method which is performed exclusively in the most modern international centres which employ fully qualified staff for this type of procedure.
A daughter of a fallen soldier has been employed in the Clinical Centre Banja Luka
Darijana Lukajić, a daughter of a fallen soldier of the Army of the Republic of Srpska has signed a one-year employment contract on activities and working tasks of a social worker in the Psychiatry Clinic of the Clinical Centre Banja Luka. Darijana Lukajić was earlier provided with a possibility to volunteer in the Clinical Centre Banja Luka. After obtaining a positive opinion of the Head of the Psychiatry Clinic regarding her work, collegiality and behaviour towards patients, she has been employed.
A meeting between heads of the clinics, institutes and departments, head nurses and the Management of the Clinical Centre Banja Luka was held
On July 10th, 2014, a meeting between heads of the clinics, institutes and departments, head nurses and the Management of the Clinical Centre Banja Luka was held in the Amphitheatre of the Maternity Building. Acting General Manager of the Clinical Centre Banja Luka Professor Mirko Stanetić MD, PhD informed participants on organizational structure of the Clinical Centre Banjaluka, introduced members of the Management and presented activities which they perform in the Clinical Centre. He emphasized that maximum cooperation of all medical and non- medical departments of the Clinical Centre is necessary in order for the biggest institution in the Republic of Srpska to function flawlessly.
Twenty one babies have been born in the Clinic of Gynaecology and Obstetrics
In the past 24 hours, twenty one babies have been born in the Clinic of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of the Clinical Centre Banja Luka. The Head of the Maternity Ward of the Clinic of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Professor Nebojša Jovanić, MD, PhD said: “Unfortunately, this is not an event that often occurs and we would like to have these kinds of beautiful happenings more frequently, since, on a daily basis, an approximate number of newborns is ten. Annually, from 3000 up to 3200 babies are born in the Clinic of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of the Clinical Centre Banjaluka. In the past six months 1600 babies were born, which means that the number is larger in comparison to the same period of the previous year when 1400 babies were born. There are months when more babies are born, like September and October. The nickname for them is winter babies. This year, triplets were also born.”
A support to our youngest patients
Members of the Association of Women of SNSD, Area 1, Centre 1, Borik 1 and Borik 2 visited the Clinical Centre Banjaluka. On the initiative of a volunteer of the Department of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology, Sandra Čolić, and with the joined forces, they organized and carried out a humanitarian action of collecting necessary assets for the Department of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology and the Department of Child Psychiatry.
