Doctors of the University Clinical Centre of the Republic of Srpska work to full capacity during pre-holiday and holiday period. During this period, there is an increase in number of alcohol-related car accidents. Injuries caused by improper use of pyrotechnics are also frequent.
Representatives of Podravka Company and one of children’s favourite mascots – teddy bear Lino visited children hospitalized in the Paediatric Clinic of the University Clinical Centre of the Republic of Srpska.
Head of the Paediatric Clinic Stojislav Konjevic, MD said: “ It’s holiday time and hospitalized children are more emotionally sensitive in this period, because they are separated from their families. Every year, representatives of Podravka try to cheer up children. Today, there are not many companies that are socially responsible. It is of utmost importance to be socially responsible towards children during the holidays and off holiday season. I am glad that today we have the opportunity to see joy and happiness in their faces. Also, I would like to invite all those that are able to dedicate more activities to children.”
Besides taking care of children’s health, employees of the Paediatric Clinic try to alleviate their fear and make hospital stay as nice as possible. They also make efforts to provide security and support to parents.
Mila Zovko, marketing director of Podravka B&H said: „The Paediatric Clinic is the last in a series of centres included in our action of gift-giving and delivering donations. Podravka B&H for many years launches these actions in order to make holidays of these children nicer and to provide support to the parents who take care of their children’s health on a daily basis”.
For the first time in the Republic of Srpska, team of surgeons at the Orthopaedic Clinic of the UCC RS performed stabilization of intertrochanteric fracture of the femur by intramedullary fixation with the proximal femoral nail. It is a modern technique that is used worldwide and from now on it will be applied in the Orthopaedic Clinic and the Clinic of Traumatology of the UCC RS.
In the period from December 10th to December 12th, 20015, Thierry Pirotte, MD from Saint-Luc Hospital in Brussels visited the UCC RS for the second time.
The 21st kidney transplant was successfully performed in the University Clinical Centre of the Republic of Srpska.
On the occasion of World AIDS Day that is marked on December 1st, the Clinic of Infectious Diseases of the UCC RS organized anonymous, costless, voluntary HIV /AIDS and viral hepatitis testing as well as counselling activities.
According to the Decision of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of the Republic of Srpska, the Centre for Rare Diseases has been established in the University Clinical Centre of the Republic of Srpska.
On November 24th, 2015, in the Amphiteatre of the Maternity building, a professional meeting entitled “Clinical insight into the targeted therapy for lung cancer and melanoma“ was held. It was organized by the Roche Ltd Sarajevo and the University Clinical Centre of the Republic of Srpska.
On November 19th, 2015, in the meeting room of the University Clinical Centre of the Republic of Srpska, the third regular session of the Advisory Council was held.
