Working meeting- amputation, prosthetics and rehabilitation
On October 14th, 2015, in the Blue Conference Hall of the Health Insurance Fund of the Republic of Srpska, a working meeting between doctors of the University Clinical Centre of the Republic of Srpska and the Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation „Dr Miroslav Zotovic” was held.
World Ostomy Day is marked every year at the beginning of October with the aim of eliminating prejudices about patients with ostomy. The theme of this year’s World Ostomy Day is “Many Stories, One Voice.” On September 28th, 2015, the Association of Ostomy Patients placed a stand in front of the department store „Boska“.
On Friday, September 18th, 2015, the nineteenth kidney transplant was successfully performed in the University Clinical Centre of the Republic of Srpska. The first transplant was performed more than four years ago in the UCC RS with the assistance of the Team from the Military Medical Academy Belgrade that was also involved in the education of our personnel.Up to now, all the transplants were performed without any complications.
From September 14th to September 21st, Tuberculosis Prevention Week is marked worldwide with the aim of raising people’s awareness about this infectious disease which still represents big health problem.
As a token of gratitude for treatment of their mother, Petrovic family donated two intensive-care beds to the Department of Intensive Care Medicine for non- surgical branches of medicine.
Breast Unit within the Oncology Clinic of the University Clinical Centre of the Republic of Srpska was admitted to membership of the Breast Centres Network on September 5th, 2012 as its 172nd member. Nowadays, there are over 220 organizational units dealing with these issues within the Network.
On September 10th, 2015, President of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik and a representative of Association of Parents of Children Suffering from Malignant Diseases „Iskra“ Rada Vjestica laid a cornerstone for Parents’ House for children suffering from malignant diseases.
Team of surgeons from the Clinic of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Clinic of Maxillofacial Surgery of the UCC RS together with the team of surgeons from the MMA Belgrade for the first time performed complicated surgical procedure i.e. reconstruction of defect of lower jaw after removal of advanced tumour of bone tissue of lower jaw – mandible. Reconstruction is performed by microsurgical transfer of vascularised bone flap from the lower leg in order to create a new lower jaw.
On the basis of Decision of the Government of the Republic of Srpska issued on August 28th, 2015, the name of the University Hospital Clinical Centre Banjaluka is changed into the University Clinical Centre of the Republic of Srpska.
Professor Goran Milasinovic MD, PhD, director of Pacemaker Centre of the Clinical Centre of Serbia visited Pacemaker Centre within the Clinic of Cardiovascular Diseases of the UCC RS. There has been long term cooperation between these two institutions.
